Crash on Interstate 74

There was a fatal crash last Wednesday between a semi truck and school bus. This unfortunate accident occurred on Interstate 74 near Bloomington and Downs, Illinois. In this horrifying accident, two men were killed and nine others on the bus were injured. One of the men killed was a 72-year-old, Charles Crabtree, a volunteer of the basketball team. The other was the 34-year-old driver of the semi-truck. This 1terrifying event took place at 8:32 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. It was a very tragic night for the families of those that had passed and for those nine that were severely injured.

Police are still refusing to release the name of the truck driver due to the family’s wants. The school bus carrying a junior varsity basketball team from Normal West High School was just bringing them home after one of their games. The semi-truck carrying two men. At the time of the fatal crash, there were at least 11 people on th

e bus: three adults and the rest students. Everyone on the bus was taken to the hospital; two of the adults had life-threatening injuries and the other was in critical condition. The coach had to be airlifted because of his injuries but everyone else was transported by an ambulance.

The bus was hit head-on by the semi-truck; the truck was very long and had a silver trailer. The front of the school bus was completely crushed because the impact that the truck had on the bus, and it had parts of the roof torn off. The semi-truck was going the wrong way and that is what caused this interference. People are still curious why he was driving eastbound on a westbound road.
