Mr. Miremadi: Teacher and Coach

Hossein Miremadi is the seventh grade science teacher for Stirling Clan. He coaches soccer and basketball at the middle school and tennis at the high school as well.

“I have always loved science since I was a little kid. My father was a chemical engineer, and I idolized him, so I always did my best to accel in the field of science and grew to love the inquiry behind it.” Mr. Miremadi has taught at only BE for 12 awesome years. “What I love about science is that it can be very concrete in its foundations, but it also allows for you to ask questions, problem solve, and think creatively."

I asked him why he loves teaching, and he explained to me that, “No two days teaching are the same.”

Mr. Miremadi is also a coach as much as he is a teacher. He coaches soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter, and tennis in spring. When coaching he says, “my favorite part is working with the players, building skills and confidence, and watching them succeed. The expressions on a player’s face when they master a new skill, or make a positive contribution to their team is priceless.” But why does he coach so many different teams? “Each team, and each sport brings its own nuances. The interactions, relationships, and experiences gained in coaching are unique, and I believe it will enhance my performance in the classroom.”

“I have been very fortunate over the years to work with a team of teachers who love what they do and love working with kids. #StirlingForever.”

Mr. Miremadi grew up in Gorham, and he is now their rival on the field/court. He still has love for his hometown and always will. Mr. Miremadi’s favorite team is the Texas Rangers.

What is the most frustrating thing to hear from students? “It is always most frustrating to me to see a student content with their work. Often students do not take opportunities given to them to challenge themselves and to put an extra effort. When I see students not working to their full potential, that is most frustrating.”

His favorite thing to do in his free time is to spend it with his wife and 3 boys. Mr. Miremadi’s role model growing up was his father. His hero was also a baseball player by the name of Ruben Sierra! His favorite actor is Brad Thor, and he loves too many movies to just pick one.

“I think this community often gets negative publicity and a bad reputation spread by a few, but this is a very special place to be a part of. The teachers in this school genuinely care about the wellbeing of their students both in, and out of the classroom. My approach to classroom management is to treat my students like the young adults they are. Respect them, hold them accountable, and give them responsibility, and I expect the same in return.”

His favorite thing about BEMS is the students and teachers.

“Live it. Love it. BE it!” - Hossein Miremadi.
