Mr. Pease and Movember

Mr. Pease, two year reigning champion!

Mr. Pease has been teaching since 2013. He is the Language Arts teacher for Argyll Clan. He is the advisor for Creative Writing Club and runs Movember. I got to sit down and ask him some questions. He decided to teach Language Arts because it was his favorite subject in school. Mr. Pease has wanted to teach since he was a kid. He wanted to teach Language Arts because he had a 8th grade Language arts teacher and was beyond doubt influenced.

Mr. Pease’s absolute favorite part of Bonny Eagle Middle School is the community. I asked him if he enjoys Argyll Clan and he said, “Yes, all of the clan is wonderful. Mrs. McCarthy was one of the people on my hiring panel who chose to hire me; since then, she’s been like a sister to me, so Argyll feels like a family, and we always have such wonderful kids in it.”

Mr. Pease is most frustrated in the classroom with having to repeat simple behavioral expectations. What do you think of your clan? He said, simply, “A lot of awesome kids. Great human beings.” Mr. Pease lived in Grey until first grade and moved to Yarmouth, and in sixth he lived in Gray, Wayne, and back to Yarmouth. He mainly lived in Yarmouth until graduation. Mr. Pease was also asked a very difficult question. What is your favorite book? “Everytime I read a book all the way through, I think it is my favorite book. But, my tops are, A Man Called Ove, Ready Player One, the Harry Potter series, and The Princess Bride.”

2nd place

The critique he gave to BEMS, he is not able to fix, himself, “If I were a wizard, I would replace several of my desks with silent exercise bikes and treadmills that would allow kids to move around, without disturbing others, when they feel the need. Maybe they’d be able to provide energy to the school, too,” Mr. Pease stated.

Mr. Pease’s favorite author is Kurt Vonnegut. I also asked him, “How do you feel about the recreation of books into movies?” And he responded the way I believe many people would agree. “I get really annoyed sometimes, when a movie changes something about a book and I don’t understand why they chose to change that thing.” I also asked him how he feels about technologies in the classroom and he said, “Given the importance of technology in our present and future international communities, technology is absolutely necessary to have and teach in school, but I think some kids may not be ready to fully benefit from it.”

Mr. Pease’s favorite movies and TV are, The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross, Kids in The Hall and Coen Brothers film. His biggest role model growing up and now is his very own grandmother.

Mr. Pease is a leader to the Pathfinder’s Program at BEMS. His favorite part about that is all of the humans being because he enjoys that above anything. He also helps to run Movember. He has run the fundraiser for two years and is a two year reigning champion, “but,” he says, “none of it would be possible without the help of Mrs. Norton and Mrs. Duhamel and their students of student council.”

Mr. Pease’s absolute favorite part of being a teacher is when students smile and laugh during class.

Participants of Movember 2017 are: Mr. Pease, Mr. Miremadi, Mr. Abbott, Mr. O'Searcoid, Mr. Vacchiano, Mr. Avery, Mr. Harnik, Mr. Rounds, Mr. Curran, Mrs. Chiasson, Mrs. Tapley, and Mr. Christensen.
