Geometry Dash
What’s Geometry Dash?
So, you're probably wondering what exactly Geometry Dash is. Geometry Dash is in fact geometrical, with shapes lighting up the screen you go through certain levels collecting coins. The goal of the game is to just beat the levels and collect coins, however, each level you beat you unlock something; such as a character or a color. You always start off with 8 colors and unlock more as you go, as well as the colours you start with 5 characters instead of 8. You can also name your character whatever you’d like, but it won’t appear on screen while you're playing. You can equip colours for your character by simply clicking them or tapping them if on phone or iPad.
If you have the lite version of Geometry Dash then it only includes the first 11 levels. The full version however has 21 levels (including the first 11). In each level they include three secret coins, which each are a little harder to get than just the first level. The coins are yellow with a bronze star in the middle. Collecting at least 10 of these can unlock a demon level, and this level is Clubstep. Clubstep is much harder than the regular levels, consisting of more obstacles, longer level, and coins that are extremely hard to get. Another level that needs coins is Theory of Everything 2. This level needs 20 coins to unlock. Once unlocked it’s hard just like Clubstep, practically the same difficulty. But that’s not all. There is one last level which is the hardest level in the regular levels, Deadlocked. This level is extremely hard, being the hardest level in the regular levels it needs to keep its reputation.
Level Editor
Yes, it is what it sounds like, a level editor. Geometry Dash just isn’t about the regular levels in the game. If you beat them all you’ll probably delete the game and find something else. But no. Geometry dash can also have levels made by other people. You can also make levels and submit them so other people can play them. You can add coins in them as well but in order to submit the level you need to be able to complete it while collecting all three coins you added. People can submit the levels and make one that is called an auto level. The auto level is simply just watching the screen go past and watch all the special effects. In an auto level you simply can’t tap anything or you’ll jump and kill yourself. The goal of these levels is completely nothing other than to make the person playing satisfied. In fact the hardest level ever made was a level editor level made by Manix648. His level is called Bloodlust. Good luck beating this level; no one has ever completed this level and maybe no one will ever. The closest person to ever beat this level had gotten 98%. You could've guessed he was not happy….
Popularity
When Geometry Dash first came out it obviously wasn’t that good because word hadn’t spread around about this new game. The game was its early stage then and level editor didn’t exist. Neither then half the levels. From my research only 8 or 7 levels existed then. Not many people played at that time, but popularity quickly grew within a couple of months. The game grew with much harder levels and hundreds of thousands of new people started playing.
