The Art Teachers
Four years ago in 2013 Mrs. Spearin became an art teacher. Before wanting to be a art teacher, she wanted to become a sock maker at the age of five. She wanted to take on the sock making job because she did not like the socks when she was little. The socks were sewn near the toes and it was uncomfortable. In the end making socks was not fit for Mrs. Spearin, so she decided to become an art teacher.
Mrs. Spearin wanted to be an art teacher because she enjoyed art in school and growing up. Her past art teachers inspired her to become the art teacher that she is today. She went to Cazenovia College in New York for four years and Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine for one year.
Her favorite part of the job is getting students exposed to art. In her opinion students should get involved with art because it gives them the chance to use their creative energy. The students get to show their outcomes of art at the art show. Mrs. Spearin picks the art that is eye catching and amazing. The art show started on May 24 and went until May 27.
The art teacher’s least favorite part of the job is having to recycle the clay. She also dislikes the need to put lotion on after doing this task. The most challenging part of the job for Mrs. Spearin is prepping, getting supplies, cutting paper, and making slide shows for the next projects. Mrs. Spearin’s creativity helps her to think of what the students will be doing for their next projects. Traveling and seeing different landscapes sparks Mrs. Spearin’s creativity.
Mrs. Spearin is creative, caring, inspirational, dedicated, and passionate. 7th grader Vaida Smith says that all of these apply to her and that Mrs. Spearin is very positive. In the 7th graders opinion Mrs. Spearin also encourages students to do their best. Also Mrs. Spearins favorite artist is Wayne Thiebaud because he paints desserts.
Mrs. Thompson went to Western Connecticut state university for college. Then she became an art teacher. She wanted to become an art teacher because she likes working with people and she likes kids. She also is really good at art! She also wanted to teach art because it is her biggest intrance. Her favorite part of the job is working with students who really enjoy art and seeing them be successful. She also picks projects for the art show that are done by students who really enjoy making the projects and who will most likely go to the art show.
The teacher’s least favorite part about being an art teacher is cleaning and trying to get the students to clean. In her opinion the most challenging part is answering the random and off task questions that get asked repeatedly.
Mrs. Thompson really thinks that people should be involved with art. In her opinion art brings joy to your life! The earth without art is just in fact eh. She also says that most everything has to do with art. For example, fashion and designing are both works of art. Also her favorite artist is Frida Kahlo because she did not have a lot of formal training and her artwork is recognizable.
Mrs. Thompson is happy, hilarious, creative, awesome, and unique. What sparks her amazing creativity is seeing other be creative. 6th grader, Keagan Pinkham thinks the art teacher is cool, nice, smart, and he thinks she is good at drawing.
If the teacher was not an art teacher, she would have been a graphic designer. But she decided to choose to be an art teacher because in her opinion it is boring to sit in front of your computer all day. She also said that being a graphic designer would be lonely.
In conclusion, both art teachers are very creative and inspirational. They enjoy art and helping/seeing students at the middle school succeed. Some students at the school like the subject art and having two amazing art teachers helping them every step of the way!
