The Island, Part 1

I was so excited, it was finally the day to go on the cruise! Too bad my mom couldn't make it, she had to stay for her graduation of her 4th year in college. I used my wand and neatly packed my bags. I slid my pet weasel silently into my pocket without a noise.

I heard my dad yell from down stairs, “C’mon Sarah, were gonna miss the cruise!” I grabbed his food and put it into one of of the bags; I shoved my wand in my pocket and grabbed my bags. I flew down the stairs and slid through the apartment door just in time to jump into the taxi. I stumbled on the sidewalk and tumbled into the seats.

My dad payed the driver and the driver begun to say, “Where to?”

My dad responded, “to the cruise ship;” my dad showed him the two tickets then slid them into his pocket. “We need to get there fast, it’s gonna leave soon.” My dad said worried.

“Don’t worry, Mr. Mishkin, luckily you found the fastest taxi around!” He shoved the gear into drive and we zoomed down the road, The light was starting to turn yellow.

“Cmon!” I yelled, “I don’t wanna miss the cruise!”

His meter went from 40 mph to 60 mph; I had a feeling that we weren’t gonna make it. The light turned red when we were right underneath it! “Ha ha! Told you this was the fastest taxi!” We slowly rolled down the hill and came to a stop near the giant dock. We jumped out of the car and ran towards the back of the car. He pulled all of of our luggage out. I grabbed the rollers bags, and he grabbed the bags.

“Thanks for the lift!” my dad yelled.

“Yeah, thanks!” I responded. We practically flew down the dock towards the cruise; we showed the guy our tickets and he gave us our room key. I grabbed the key and mumbled a thank you under my breath. I showed my dad the number, it read 45. I knew we would have a good number because my dad owns a whole apartment building. (We provide our food of the rent money.) We walked to the room with the guy holding our luggage trolling along behind us, and we finally reached our room.

I immediately ran towards the beds and climbed up the ladder towards the top bunk. I climbed under the covers and poked my head out; immediately I saw the balcony. I pushed aside the covers and jumped down from the ruffled bed, and then I ran to the balcony. I pulled out my wand and pushed the door aside and I stared out into the deep blue water. My dad came up behind me and asked, “Do you want to get something to eat?”

“Yeah! Beat you to the cafe!” I ran back into the room, shutting the balcony door behind me hoping to get a head start. I put my shoes on and flew out the door. I ran down the hall and quickly approached the elevator, and I quickly spammed the button; I knew it would take a while. I decided to go down the stairs instead.

“I’m gonna beat you!” My dad called out as he flew right past me.

“Hey!” I quickly shouted while I jumped down the stairs.

My dad beat me by a mile. I rushed past a few other people and reached the dining room with my dad.

We quickly got escorted to a table and we sat down and looked at the menus. Eventually a waiter came and took our order; I asked for a Shirley Temple and a helping of Mac and Cheese. My dad ordered next asking for an iced latte and a bacon and egg sandwich, the waiter left while saying “Coming right up.”
